Monday Musings

Let us begin the week with a series of nonsequitors...

This weekend got off to a rocky start. A few problems cropped up on "Startup Wives" (aka my life). But, as I am incapable of staying mad for more than one hour, all was soon right in the world again.

Totally random: When I first moved out to CA, I kept hearing the song "Good Life" by One Republic on the radio. Okay, I think the song was popular at that time. Now, though, the song has certainly outplayed its welcome. But, I hear it at least once every single day, and I have since last summer. The other day, I turned on the radio and the DJ said "And now for a new song by One Republic," and what started playing?! "Good Life"! This song is not only not new, but it has been following me all year. Is the universe trying to tell me something? If the message is that mine will be a good life, then play on, annoying anthem of the cautiously optimistic.

In other news, Game of Thrones ended last night with a less than compelling season finale; we are mourning (not really). The Bachelorette is finally picking up steam (Emily has decided that unless she starts making out with some guys, every last one of her faithful viewers will be watching something else). The Killing is killing it this season. Amazeballs. And then there is Girls. What can I say about that show except that it is part soft core porn, part chronicle of the life of the early twenty something, and part raunchy comedy. It is fat, and ugly, and snorty laugh funny to Sex and the City's glamor, and gorgeous, and laugh with your hand in front of your mouth comedy. Love it. I think Marnie may be my long lost twin. I realized this when she said,

"That isn't fun for me. Do you realize that? Being the uptight girl. I hate it... No one ever asks me to get, like, friendship tatoos or whatever. Sometimes being inside my own head is so exhausting that it makes me want to cry."

Oh dear, sweet Marnie. I hear ya, girl. I really hear ya.
